Hi,

I have been in contact with Ms. Bui Hong Hanh (Victoria) Sales Executive about purchasing two train tickets departing from Saigon on the 8th of January and Hue on the 13th of January. Ms Bui Hong Hanh has organised everything amazingly. She has been extremely helpful and very efficient replying to all my questions.

I have filled out everything except for two parts. I was unsure what to write in the gaps of the letter of approval.

Thank you

Dear Ms.Nga,

Thank you for your attentive service. We are still waiting to confirm our flights to Vietnam in November and after that the exact schedule can be fixed.

Knowing that the trains arrive at 2:30 and 5:30 in the morning made us a bit hesitating about our initial plan, as it is not a very good time to check in a hotel or to go anywhere with luggage and tired body. We are seriously considering stay a night first at HCM City, or fly instead.

We do appreciate your speedy reply which we found very helpful and it does is impressive.

Thank you and regards,

Roger: but the local surrounding is not so friendly for tourist like me
13:01
the tranportation is on-time and the driver is freindly as well.
me: what do you mean by ‘local surrounding’?
13:02
you meant the people there?
13:04
Roger: I have to be careful as some people tends to reap-me with higher price when getting services, taxi, roadside stalls. Easily I look like tourist…
no big damages but impressions wise not so good.

Sumanto from Jakarta, Indonesia traveled on Cambodia Classic Tour on 20 September 2008 at 07:58 wrote

Dear Mike,

We are still in Singapore and not back to Jakarta yet from our Angkor Wat trip. Below is my comments of this trip:

Siem Reap

Our Guide, Mr. Sophan is a very nice guy. His English is pretty good and easy to understand. He is always trying to help and overall we are impressed with his attitude and personality. He has good knowledge of the temples we visited. I give him a point of 9 out of 10.

Hotel, Prince D’Angkor: Location of Hotel is great. Breakfast is ok. Room is too small to call it a Junior Suite. I don’t like a few things of this Hotel:
Lots of Mosquitoes around the Hotel. There were some mosquitoes in our bed room.
No Elevator in our wing. We requested a room on the 3rd floor (the highest floor in that wing) to avoid the mosquitoes and found out we had to go up and down by stairs as there is no elevator. After a long day visiting temples, going up on stairs was not the most enjoyable things to do.
We experienced a lot of rains (of course, it is rainy season now). To go to our room in the Hotel, we have to cross an uncovered area and get wet from the rain. The Hotel didn’t even put umbrellas in that area to be used by us.
The facility in the Hotel is not well maintained. Pool table is not in good shape. They don’t even provide Chalk for the stick. I asked about this and my request seems to be ignored.
Overall, I give a score of 6 for this hotel.
C Angkor Wat and other temples: Our 3 favorite temples: Ta Phrom, Bayon, and Angkor Wat. We do believe, 2 days Temples visit may be more than enough for average visitors. 3 days is too long and too much. Other than the temples, nothing much to see in the area.

Bus Trip from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh: No scenery to see along the 5-1/2 trip. The land is Flat.

PhnomPenh:

Guide Ms. Vitheany: Her English is pretty good with clear pronunciation. I can’t comment much on her as she was with us for only 4 hours.
Hotel: AmanJaya: The Junior Suite room we had is very good. Size is big (60 m2 ?) and room is much cleaner than the Prince D’Angkor. Location is great, right across the Mekong River (remind me of the Majestic Hotel in HoChiMinh City. I give a high mark for the Hotel, it’s worthed the price.
Visited the Palace and National Museum. Ok but not excellent.
We made a city tour using TukTuk from in front of the Hotel. It is quite enjoyable and feel much safer as the driver is known by the Hotel attendant.

Mike, Thanks for the Service. Overall, your service has been great with the same quality we experienced in our Vietnam tour last March. I will contact you again if we are going back to Vietnam or Laos/ Burma next time.

Kind regards,

Sumanto Hartanto and family

Dear Mike,

Thank you for your inquiry!  We had just gotten back from Hong Kong on June 4th and are still adjusting to the time difference again!  We must tell you that we had a wonderful time in Vietnam and we are very pleased with your agency.  Our guides were very informative,  Huy, Binh and Vinh, was so much fun, especially, Khoa!  They took care of all our internal flight confirmations, welcomed us warmly at each arrival and began giving us the specs in each city as soon as we started driving!  It was wonderful!  I don’t think that we would have been able to plan something like this on our own.  The activities were such a learning experience.  We even had enough spare time to meet with my family in Hanoi to have lunch/dinner several times.  It was good to see them after so many years!

I have already received an email from a potential client of yours as a reference and I referred your company to her.  I hope she books with you!!  That would be the smart thing to do!

We only have one complaint with the Metropole Hotel in Hanoi.  Yes, unfortunately, they did not have air conditioning or hot water once we arrived back from Ha Long Bay for 2 days.  When we had arrived there, the first day, we had the tour in the Citroen, where Binh had presented them the voucher.  At check out to Ha Long, they had charged me for it on my bill.  The same thing happened for the cooking class.  I had presented them the voucher and at check out, they charged me for it.  So twice they had made this error.

Also, at check out, the last day, I had left a package/gift for my cousins’ young sons, some toys and candies totalling 700,000 dong.  The receptionist attached the name and number on it for me (I also left the same information inside the package) and told me that they will contact my cousin for pick up.  I had also notified my cousin that these items were there for her too.  The hotel did call her, her sister came to pick it up for her (and the hotel was notified), and upon arrival, the package could not be found!  They had lost it, apparently.  I had called the Hotel while in Hoi An and they could not find it still but told me they would contact my cousin once they did.  Since our return, I have not found out yet if this has been resolved.  They did not offer me any resolution into this.  I was disappointed in the reception area for their lack of concern, care and improper billing, and no offer to provide us with a solution.

I want you to know that we understand that things can happen and it is normal, however, the numerous mistakes made by this hotel is unacceptable for a 5 star accommodation.  I am very pleased that Binh made you aware of this so quickly, and your questioning of it is of remarkable timing.   Vietnam Impressive is a very caring company as well, I see.  Please know that I will not hesitate to recommend you to other travelers as well as utilizing your services in the future.

Well done!
Hoa Luu

We have returned back to Melbourne safely. We just wanted to say thank you very much for your professional handling Nielsen teambuilding group in Hanoi. Overall, it was excellent and fabulous. Every single member enjoyed the game – the rallye cyclo was that fun. Kathy, your guide was so efficient and professional. She is really really good in ‘bargaining”!
The social dinner on the Potomac was great. Food was good and we drank alot – wow as it was a free-flow!!! I did not sing but other members must have been pretty enjoyable as I can see they sang so many…

Just a idea, if you allow, to help you in the future for better organization of the cyclo rally. You should fix the time at each station and tell to each individual guide to be stricter to the cycloman as I can see the cycloman intended to be back the station earlier than scheduled time.

Your service in last minute deal like this was too good. We will certainly recommend friends and organizations to use your service in the future.

Take care,
Harley

Yes, anh Sherman lives in Hanoi. He can come by Monday if you are sure that the visas will be approved.

So you will send a confirmation letter? Can you send by email (pdf)? If fax only then email exact time you will send and I will connect my computer to the phone line to receive the fax. I will give you the number if you need it. Then when they arrive at Noi Bai they show the letter and will be able to purchase the visas there?

Hi Mike,

Many thanks for all the arrangement of our tour. The whole family is very happy with everything. We are all very impressed what Vietnam and found everything is better than our expectation. Your arrangement was great.

Let me try to give our comments about the tour:

South (HCMC):
a. The tour guide, Vinh is very professional. He speaks good English with good pronounciation. His knowledge is very good.
b. Majestic Hotel is pretty good. Location wise is one of the best.
c. Transport: Car in Saigon is good. Just a little suggestion: The driver should bring a small step / stool for older folks to enter the car as it is quite high from the floor to the car.
d. Cu Chi tunnel is very impressive. I do recommend this place for anyone visiting HCMC to appreciate the braveness and hardship of Vietnamese people during the war. I admire you guys based on what I saw in Cu Chi tunnel.

Center:
HOI An, Hue, and My Son
a. We skipped Marble Mountain and the museum in Danang and went to My Son instead. We believe this is a better choice as we learned more of the old Vietnam kingdom from visiting My Son.
b. The tour guide is another Mr. Vinh. His vocabulary is very good. He can improve his pronounciation.
c. Hotel Victoria Hoi An and Imperial Hue are pretty good.
d. Transport: Car in Central is good. Small improvement to do: The trunk section can be cleaned a bit more and provide step /stool for older folks.

North (Hanoi):
a. Tour Guide: Mr. Kanh: Some improvement of his English is recommended. He is a very nice guy though.
b. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum wasn’t in the itinerary. However, we insisted on going there right after we arrive from airport. We were not disapointed. We believe this Mausoleum should be visited by each new visitor to respect more of Vietnam’s past. Suggestion: we came in with early flight to Hanoi and your company should recommend or provide some itineraries to us to fill in the time, instead of just bring us to hotel and not doing much.
c. Transportation: Not as good as the ones in HCMC and Center. The seat is not convenience, not enough leg room and too straight to sit comfortably.
d. Sofitel Metropole is a class above the other hotels. EXCELLENT hotels.
e. Halong Bay: One of the best place I have ever visited. However, you should informed us when making the booking that there are better rooms with own terrace. If we were given the options, we would choose the better rooms as it only cost slightly higher than our room with no terrace. With the additional fees, we could enjoy Halong Bay more by seating outside in the terrace.

OVERALL: VERY GOOD. I will recommend our friends to go to Vietnam and also recommend your company.

Many thanks,
Sumanto Hartanto

Hi Mike

Sorry for the late reply, as I was busy till now. Well following are some comments for your kind perusal.

1. Lucky Hotel – I remember requesting for a 3-Star hotel, but unfortunately you’ve got a 2-star for me. It is quite disappointed especially on the cleanliness. This is the negative point. Nevertheless, the accessibility to Hon Kiem Lake and Old Quarters various shopping area is quite convenient. This is the plus point. [Am I getting a rebate for 2-star instead of 3-star Hotel?? Hehe!!
2. Travel Itinerary – This is the perfect itinerary. We totally enjoy all of it. But it seems that Hanoi is normally closed by 8pm onwards. So nothing much to shop about after we finish our itinerary. But this a general business operation hour of Hanoi and nothing that we can complain about. Nevertheless a short walk to Hon Kiem Lake at night is really fascinating and relaxing.
3. Tour Guide – Mr Binh is an extremely nice man. Nothing much to comment on him except for perfect tour guide service. One little disadvantage is his English is not as fluent and we are having a little difficulty in understanding him. I did notice that other tour guide has a very fluent, even English accent, English. Other than this, Mr Binh is a perfect guide in terms of service.
4. Driver – He is extremely kind and did notice that his work is not easy at all, especially snarling thru the busy Hanoi streets. Very careful and polite driver
5. Halong Bay, Tam Coc & Van Phuc is really unforgettable place to visit. In fact, I am organizing another trip to visit Halong Bay again somewhere in December. We were planning to stay longer overnight at Junk probably 4D3N at Bai Tho Junk 89 (very new & nice & comfortable). Other than that, we are also planning to visit Sapa this time round & Hue if possible. Please advise number of days require for approximate such itinerary

That’s all for now and we are looking forward to see you again in December.

Wish to see you and your family soon.
