Grand Indochina Holidays with Thailand Stopover (#2304)

 

Day 1: Arrive Bangkok (no meals)

Transfer (no guide) by air-conditioned coach to hotel in the city. Rest of the day is free for leisure and relaxation.

 

Day 2: Departure Bangkok – Luang Prabang arrival (Breakfast)

Transfer (no guide) to the International Airport, for the flight to Vientiane then connect flight to Luang Prabang by Bangkok Airways or Laos Airlines flight.
Upon arrival at Luang Prabang airport, you are welcomed and transferred to the hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai; we then climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore street night Bazaar, where you can find the lovely collection and handmade textile by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

 

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou – Luang Prabang (Breakfast)

After breakfast, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene. Then visit The National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign, and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represent the classical architecture of Luang Prabang temple. We then board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the potent local rice wine. On return, we take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, well known for its hand made of Jute Sar paper. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

 

Day 4: Luang Prabang – Kuangsi Waterfalls – Vientiane (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel; this morning you may want to rise early and participate in the daily early morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls being given offerings from the local people, including the ubiquitous sticky rice. From there you will visit the morning Phosi market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local village of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay and Ban Thapene drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths, return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon and continue to Ban Phanom, a well known weaving village, return to the city to transfer to airport for your late afternoon flight to Vientiane by flight. Overnight in Vientiane.

 

Day 5: Vientiane – Hanoi (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel, take city tour to see the major temples including the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to the famous, sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph, and shopping at morning market to buy souvenir from Laos before transfer to airport for your flight to Hanoi.
Upon arrival Hanoi/Noi Bai airport, transfer (no guide) to hotel for check in.

Day 6: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay, no escort guide from Hanoi, guide on boat/cruise (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

07.30: Pick up from your hotel in Hanoi. Drive to Halong City through the paddy fields in the Red River Delta.
12.00 – 13.00: Arrive in Tuan Chau wharf – breaking and taking photo at Glory Legend private lounge.
13.00 – 19.30: Welcome drink – receive cruise briefing, safety instructions and check in. Start cruising and explore Halong Bay – one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
Enjoy buffet lunch with Vietnamese dishes served while cruising through the bay, passing the most beautiful and quiet areas, such as Incense Burner, Dog Stone islet, Fighting Cock, Soi Sim beach, Coconut Three island
Visiting Luon cave, the perfect combination of lime-stone mountains and jade-green sea by bamboo boat with local people or kayaking based on your preference. Enjoy quiet space and pure air, you will feel relaxed truly. If you are lucky, you will see monkeys on islands.
Visiting the beautiful Ti Top beach for swimming (if the weather permits), Ti Top beach is especially famous for its fresh atmosphere, clean water and smooth white sand that create a great ambiance for tourists to relax or passengers can take steps to reach on the top of Ti Top beach to have a whole panorama view of Halong Bay.
Back to the boat and free time while sailing to Luon Bo area, and anchor overnight.

Attend the cooking class on sundeck to learn how to make Vietnamese spring rolls – traditional Vietnamese food. Then enjoy happy hour (buy one drink-get one free). It is time for relaxing. Watch the magnificent sunset over Halong Bay.
19.30 – 23.00: Dinner deluxe Vietnamese and international BBQ set menu dinner.
Evening activities include: Leisure time to enjoy a chat around the bar, watching movies and many sort of Vietnam cultural films, relaxing and spending a romantic night on Glory Legend Cruise’s music, playing cards, chess are available, reading magazines in room and dining room. You may also try your luck at squid fishing & fishing from the boat.

Day 7: Ha Long Bay – Hanoi – citytour, no escort guide from Halong Bay back Hanoi!

PROGRAM WITH GLORY CRUISE (Brunch)

Back to cruise, check out and settle your bill at reception.
Have a lunch while cruising back to the Tuan Chau wharf. Relaxing on the sundeck or in the dining room enjoying the bay scenery while approaching the wharf.
Disembark and say goodbye to the crew.
12.00: Return to Hanoi by shuttle bus with a stop over around 30 minutes.
17.00: Arrive in Hanoi

Day 8: Hanoi city tour – night train to Hue (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel.
08:00am: your local tour guide welcomes you at hotel & enjoys a full day city tour starting with the Ho Chi Minh complex included the mausoleum, his house & complex monument, one pillar of pagoda “Chua Dien Huu” then to beautiful Westlake and Tran Quoc pagoda. Lunch is not included.
In the afternoon, we visit the Vietnamese women’s museum to see the change time by time of Vietnamese women and children. Continue your trip to the impressive ethnological museum, dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups for understanding more about the culture, costume of 54 ethnic groups. Later on, go to the temple of literature, well known as the first university of Vietnam.
18:00: Be transferred to Hanoi railway station, address: 120 Le Duan street – for overnight train to Hue. Soft sleeper ticket, A/C 4-berth sharing cabin. SE1 (19.30/08.48+1) or SE19 (20.10/09.42+1)

Day 9: Hue train station – Hue city tour (Breakfast)

Morning arrival Hue train station. your tour guide welcomes you & drive to local restaurant for having breakfast. Then take a scenic boat trip on Perfume River to visit Thien Mu pagoda.
You will visit the Imperial Citadel of Hue, Khai Dinh King’s Tomb – a blend of Western and Eastern architecture & Minh Mang King’s Tomb, one is impressed by the majesty and symmetry of the architectural constructions
Overnight in Hue.

 

 

Day 10: Hue – Danang – Hoian by land (Breakfast)

Check out hotel and depart for Hue via Danang. Stop at the towering Hai Van pass (pass of the Ocean Clouds) enroute. Arrive Danang and proceed on a brief Danang city tour followed by a visit to the Cham museum, formerly the Ecole Francaise d’Extreme Orient. The museum contains exquisite limestone carvings from the vanquished Kingdom of Champa (4th century to 18th century), a Hindu kingdom which inhabited the central coastal littoral prior to the march of the Vietnamese nation south. The carvings contain examples of Hindu altars, lingas, garudas, ganeshas and representations of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.
Afternoon visit to Marble mountain which contains numerous temples, pagodas and the marble cutters village nearby the mountains. Transfer to Hoian – World UNESCO Heritage Site. Check in hotel in free on your own leisure.

Day 11: Hoian – Half day explore the ancient town (Breakfast)

Hoi An is an ancient town which Marco Polo noted in his 13th-century journals on his visit to China. All day walking tour of this ancient city which contains over 800-structures of historical interest including Japanese covered bridges, ancient temples for various parts of China and Chinese merchant houses.

Day 12: Hoian – Danang – fly to Siem Reap (Breakfast)

Free time
Transfer (no guide) to the Danang airport for your flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at Siemreap, meet your  driver and transfer to hotel.

Day 13: Angkor Thom and Angkor Ruins (Breakfast)

All day tour of the ruins of Angkor Wat: Angkor Thom and the Southern Gate of Bayon, the temples of Ta Prohm, Ta Keo, Chau Saytevada, Thommnoun, Bontey Kdei, Preh Khan, Neak Poan, Sras Srang and Kravann. Return to hotel, free evening.

Day 14: Tonle Sap lake and Aspara Show (Breakfast/Dinner)

Morning boat trip on Tonle Sap lake to visit floating village of Chong Kneas. Afternoon visit to the grandest of all ruins, Angkor Wat, a world UNESCO site.
Evening Khmer performance with tasting of Khmer food for dinner.
