Pick up at early your hotel in Hanoi, drive to Ninh Binh, and take a boat trip on the scenic Ngo Dong River to visit Tam Coc which is known as Halong Bay on land. Boating in a sampan on the winging river and watching the local life is an excellent idea you should not miss. Visit as well the ancient dynasty temples of Dinh and Le.

Or you can choose to visit Kenh Ga floating village within a day from Hanoi (Trip code 1201b)

Pick up early at your hotel in Hanoi, drive to Ninh Binh then head to Kenh Ga and take a boat trip (motorboat indeed) on Hoang Long River to visit the village of Kenh Ga – isolated in a region dominated by water, the floating village of Kenh Ga lies about 15 km north of Ninh Binh. The picturesque landscape and sight of locals rowing boats with their feet make it a photographer’s paradise. Roughly translated as “chicken canal”, the village and the surrounding area are home to many Catholics. The imposing cathedral of nearby Phat Diem, which is over a hundred years old, is a testament to this fact.
After lunchtime, visit two ancient temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties.
Back in Hanoi, drop off at your hotel.

Pick up at the hotel and drive to Ninh Binh. Take a boat trip to visit Van Trinh – about 30 minutes of boat trip from Kenh Ga is the Van Trinh Cave.
A trail starts from where the boat will drop you and goes along amazing rice fields until it reaches the cave itself. Along the trail, you can meet farmers on their way to work or to their homes. Inside the cave, look for a natural formation, high on one of the walls, that looks like a praying monk (or if you wish – to a friendly alien). Continue to visit the Phat Diem stone church – the center of Catholicism in North Vietnam is the Phat Diem Cathedral. The cathedral is unique for its Buddhist pagoda shape. It was built in the years 1875-1899 and includes a network of pools, lakes, churches, and artificial caves. The interior of the cathedral expresses the contrast between Christianity and local culture, and Chinese dragons are found where saints and Christian angels are. The cathedral is situated 28 km southeast of Ninh Binh, the entrance is free of charge. It is recommended to visit on a Sunday when the locals come for mass, or during Christian holidays if you are lucky.
